The beginning

When I call this the beginning that is obviously not true
The beautiful Rhymney Valley in South Wales has been formed throughout the millenniums
The valley was wooded throughout - probably where the coal came from - with one of the quickest rising rivers running through it.

But this is the beginning of my part of the story
here is
BARGOED COLLIERY
Bargoed Colliery started production in 1901 four years after the first of three shafts were sunk. The three pits that made up Bargoed Colliery were
the North, the South and the Brithdir Shafts.
Since it's closure in 1977 there has been a major land reclamation scheme costing many millions of pounds
